Membership FAQs
Here are the answers to the questions we hear most about joining PowerSeekers.
Membership gives you a place in the PowerSeekers community and access to the resources, activities, and support built for members. You’ll start with orientation and the Core Four, then use Building Blocks, PowerUps, PowerShifts, mentor support, and community activities in the way that fits you. Some members work mostly on their own. Others join groups and in-person activities too. The point is to build your power, understand the world more clearly, and put that power to work protecting and restoring the Earth.
There’s no fixed weekly requirement. We recommend setting aside 2–5 hours a week to participate in activities, connect with others, attend optional events, or explore resources. Some weeks you may do more, some less. You might work through a Building Block on your own, join a PowerUp or PowerShift, meet with a mentor, or take part in a community activity.PowerSeekers is participatory, so we do expect you to keep engaging and contributing over the year. That doesn’t mean attending everything or being online every week.
Both. PowerSeekers is designed so you can participate from wherever you live, including through self-directed resources and virtual activities. We also run in-person activities when and where they are possible. Those opportunities depend on location, partners, capacity, and the work happening that semester.
No. You do not need previous experience in environmental work, restoration, civic action, volunteering, or anything else. You start with orientation and the Core Four, which help you find your footing and understand how PowerSeekers works.
Absolutely. You do not need to arrive with a project, a plan, or even a clear idea of what you want to do first.Orientation and the Core Four help you find your footing. From there, you can choose what to explore, what to build, and where you want to contribute.
Yes. You can register anytime. If you register from September through January, you’ll join the February cohort. If you register from February through August, you’ll join the September cohort. We’ll save your place and keep you updated while you wait. Your membership begins after you complete orientation with that cohort.
Once you register, you’ll receive confirmation that your place is saved in the next incoming PowerSeekers cohort. We’ll keep you updated while you wait, then send you everything you need for orientation as your cohort approaches. For now, there’s nothing else you need to do.Once you complete orientation, your one-year membership begins and you can start using member resources and taking part in PowerSeekers.
Your membership begins when you complete orientation with your incoming February or September cohort, not when you pay.It continues for one full year from that point.
Your annual dues help cover part of what it costs to support an active PowerSeeker. They contribute to member activities, restoration and civic-action PowerShifts, insurance, equipment and rental costs, safety gear when needed, and training for mentors.Dues cover only a fraction of the actual cost, so Prime Earth raises the rest through other funding and support.
No. PowerSeekers memberships do not renew automatically.Near the end of your membership year, we’ll send you a renewal link. You decide whether you want to continue for another year.
Yes. There is no automatic renewal to cancel. If you need or want to step back, your membership simply remains active through the end of your one-year term. It then expires unless you choose to renew.Membership dues are non-refundable.
Membership dues are non-refundable once payment has been processed. If you are charged twice or there is another payment error, contact us and we’ll correct it. Otherwise, choosing not to participate or stepping away during your membership year does not result in a refund.
Yes. Zeffy will send you a receipt confirming your membership payment. This is a purchase receipt, not a charitable tax receipt. Prime Earth is not currently a registered charity, and PowerSeekers membership dues are not tax-deductible donations.
We use Zeffy because it lets Prime Earth receive 100% of your membership dues without losing part of them to platform or payment-processing fees.At checkout, Zeffy may invite you to make an optional contribution to support its platform. That contribution is completely voluntary, can be changed to $0, and goes to Zeffy, not Prime Earth. This is separate from any Pay It Forward contribution you choose to add to your PowerSeekers membership.
