We're looking for an Education Program Officer to assist with coordinating online workshops and special events, and develop new educational programming to advance our environmental education services.
The Education Program Officer will assist Prime Earth Team Members with the planning and development of a series of 5 virtual kids’ read aloud and eco-craft workshops that teach animal kindness and environmental conservation to youth ages 5 through 9, as well as assist with the development of our new Power Seekers personal development programming targeted to youth ages 16-25.

 

In addition to the role of Education Program Officer, the successful candidate will also be part of a Special Task Team required to design, develop, and implement 2 environmental awareness social media campaigns that will increase public awareness on two key environmental issues (deforestation and wildlife trafficking).

Job Tasks & Responsibilities Include:

[A] Educational Program Officer (50% of time)

  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and delivery of 5 virtual kids workshops following our PE curriculum

  • Assist with developing promotional messaging and materials to recruit workshop participants prior to workshop

  • Monitor workshop enrollment and assist with participant registration when necessary

  • Assist with collecting workshop feedback to ensure the program meets our target audience needs

  • Assist with planning and coordinating social media and online activities for monthly challenge topics related to our new Power Seekers educational curriculum

  • Assist with Power Seekers program recruitment by drafting communications materials and messaging to effectively and efficiently grow our global network of youth (ages 16-25) to meet our program targets

  • Assist with monitoring progress on our Measurable Impacts milestones for all education programs

  • Assist with maintaining the organization calendar and ensuring all meetings and events are accurately scheduled and communicated to all staff and volunteers

 

[B] Special Task Team (50% of time)

  • Work with Special Task Team members on the design, creation, production, and delivery of two 30-day nature appreciation and environmental awareness social media campaigns on deforestation and wildlife trafficking

  • Identify target audiences needs/interests and create strategies to effectively educate and engage our supporters and grow our network of followers

  • Ensure digital marketing content aligns with our brand’s identity, mission, and messaging

  • Develop campaign related content for the Prime Earth e-newsletter

  • Distribute and monitor each campaign on all Prime Earth social media accounts

  • Collect, analyze and report data on the impact of each environmental awareness campaign data

Eligibility & Qualifications:

This position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program.

As per the program requirements, youth hired must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be between 15 – 30 years of age at the start of the employment. The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.

  2. Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.

  3. Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

  4. Be available to work the full work term June 7th, 2021 – August 13, 2021.

 

Due to COVID-19, this position will include work from home and occasional work in the office. The candidate must have access to a reliable internet connection, computer, and phone to fulfill this job position.

 

Ideal Candidates Will:

  • Have some knowledge or understanding of Biological Anthropology, including human evolution, human bio-social variation, primatology, and the 4-fields of Anthropology

  • Have some knowledge or understanding of environmental issues, biodiversity/wildlife and human-animal relations, and climate change

  • Have some experience in research, project development, and review which can include academic knowledge gained through coursework, practical experience gained through employment/volunteer work, or a combination of the two;

  • Have strong written and verbal communication skill

  • Be a well-organized, self-directed team player, able to work independently and with teammates to complete tasks on time

  • Have an interest in the role

  • Teacher training/teaching experience or vocational and life skills development experience is an asset but not required (i.e.: previous experience working with youth, teaching skills to youth in classrooms or in non-academic settings, etc.)

Conservation Officer

We're looking for a Conservation Officer to assist with researching and coordinating logistics for future tree planting projects and to assist with our wildlife sanctuary partnerships.
 
The Conservation Officer will assist Prime Earth Team Members with the research and logistical planning for future tree planting projects following our organization’s policies and procedures, as well as assist with forming new partnership with wildlife sanctuaries and maintaining positive relationships with our current partners.

  • Assist with online research for new potential partnerships with currently established primate rehabilitation facilities around the world

  • Assist with collecting program statistics from current wildlife partners

  • Assist with developing a database for monitoring and maintaining statistics on tree planting projects
